Week of October 16, 2017

 

What are we learning this week?

ELA - This week we will build upon describing characters, settings, and major events in a story, using key details. We will be reading a realistic fiction story titled, Get the Egg!.  In phonics we are exploring words that make a short e. We will also be exploring interrogative sentences.

New Sight Words: saw, tree, small, your

Spelling Words: men, red, step, ten, net, leg, jet, sled, wet, bed

Vocabulary Words: market, seller, area, price, ripe, rapid, surround, complain, yank, gather

Math - Students will use models to represent and solve subtraction situations.

Religion - This week we will learn how Jesus grew up as part of a family.

Science - As we continue our unit of living things, the students will identify what animals need to survive and how different animals meet their needs.

Social Studies - We are continuing our unit exploring how people cooperate best within school and within our community.

Homework

Monday

  • Complete pages 131- 132 in math book (please note that some students may have already finished their math homework in class)
  • Choose one way from spelling worksheet to complete spelling homework
  • Please bring in a plastic hanger of any color for a mobile that we will be making of The Blessed Trinity

Tuesday

  • Complete pages 137-138 in math book
  • Choose one way from spelling worksheet to complete spelling homework
  • Complete short e worksheet
  • Study for science test. Review sheet was sent home please review with students. You may also use the "Classes of Animals" worksheet from class today to study
  • If you haven't already brought in a plastic hanger, please do so by Thursday!

Wednesday

  • Complete pages 145-146 in math book
  • Complete subtraction problems worksheet
  • Choose one way from spelling worksheet to complete spelling homework
  • Study for science

**There will be a Science quiz on Friday, October 20th on Chapter 1 Lessons 1-5
