Richard Shares His Experience

I was a member of a robotics team which was fortunate to come in first place in the Queens regional tournament, and then go on to win the New York City Grand Championship.  So off we went to Detroit in April, to compete in the First Lego League World Championship.  We met every week from September to January to work on our robot design.  We built and programmed our robot to complete tasks as it goes through a mission course.

Detroit was a great experience.  Teams from all around the USA, Europe and Asia go to this championship hoping to win first prize.  I got to see not only the culture of the city but cultures from around the world.  Each team set up stands and tables which had information about their home and team.  This year the theme of the competition was water resources.  We learned about water related problems around the world; some of these included microfiber pollutions from fabrics, dehydration in children and elderly, and reusing rain water.  It was fun to meet kids from all over.  Some of the teams were sponsored by major companies like John Deere, GE, Dell, Hewlett Packard, and Miele.  The city of Detroit has the largest population of Arabic people outside of the Middle East.  I got to try new foods and restaurants I couldn’t ever imagine.

The school office is open through July 20th from 9-2.  The office will reopen on Monday, August 20, 2018.  Have a happy and safe summer!

Many thanks to our Home School Association for their generous year-end gifts to us.  Thank you also to the neighborhood businesses who continue to support our school.

We are united in prayer for Sofia. May God hold her in the palm of His hand, and may our Blessed Mother wrap Sofia in her loving embrace.

Registration in all grades is ongoing.
